Is Kentucky Unique?

Kentucky? Unique?

If you asked someone from outside of the state of Kentucky if Kentucky is unique, you will probably get an answer like……. Kentucky? Unique?  No!  Where if you asked someone from Kentucky they could tell you that Kentucky is more different than you would think.  There is a lot of uniqueness to every state, every county, and every country.  

                Kentucky may have very stereo type impression.  Someone from outside of this state, (because of stereo types) may think that we don’t wear shoes.  Or that we don’t have teeth.  Some people just know us because of “KFC”.    But what mot people don’t know is what culture and what uniqueness that we do really have.  We may not be as famous or as fancy as most places, but we really do have a special place, as wells as a special story that goes right behind it. 

            Kentucky is pretty big state and has a lot of diversity, but it is honestly bigger than what it seems or you may think.  I mean the population of Kentucky in 2014 was 4.413 million.  So yes that is a lot of people and a big state.  We have so much diversity, a whole lot more than what I had thought.  I have been moved around pretty much my whole life, I will admit that I didn't think that this was going to be a very big place.  I really thought that this was going to be a state full of country people or the "rednecks".  That's defiantly not the case there is people from all backgrounds.  Here are some statistics:     Male: 2,134,952 (49.2%); Female: 2,204,415 (50.8%). White: 3,809,537 (87.8%); Black: 337,520 (7.8%); American Indian: 10,120 (0.2%); Asian: 48,930 (1.1%); Other race: 55,551 (1.2%); Two or more races: 75,208 (1.7%); Hispanic/Latino: 132,836 (3.1%).  18 and over: 3,315,996; 65 and over: 578,227. 

            Kentucky has many things that it is known for.  It is known mainly for the Kentucky Derby.  Every year people from all over watch or come to Kentucky to see the Kentucky Derby.  In 2014 164,906 fans attended to watch the annual race. The Derby has the largest fireworks show known.  Kentucky is also known for the 400 Mile Yard Sale.  This is when people who live on US 68 put out their yard sales and anyone who drives down 68 can look and buy.  People form all over the United States come to Kentucky for 4 days.  This year it was held June 1^{st through} the 4^th. 

           

            Kentucky is very unique place.  It has more interesting facts than what you may think.  Kentucky is very different, yes I will admit it is not the fanciest place in the world.  I think that because we are very “different” is what makes us unique.  We are different people.  You may judge Kentucky because of the stereotype reputation.  Once you get here it is very beautiful and peaceful.  Kentucky is very unique and different but that’s what you have to love about it.

My Christmas came early haha.....

We'll we all know how bad getting food here is. So I told my parents about it. So guess what they did? The seny me a BIB BOX full of food for only one week left.! The doubled everything because of my roommate. See they were thinking about you too Nicole.!! Haha. I felt like a kid on Christmas when I got it and when I opened It 

End of week 2

Well guys we only have one week left. We have lost some people who went home. But most of is have stuck it out we are almost there. I can't believe even though I have got time stressed out and mad I stayed. I got this! 

Almost the end of week 2.....

We'll guys we have almost made it to the end of week 2. We have had good and bad times. This week and half have been a crazy roller coaster. But this is the second year i have been through this. So I GOT THIS!!!! 

Fun fun

Every day at gear up is a new adventure. You have so much to prepare for. Especially that weather. Here recently it has been rainy and nasty. But that never stops us from having fun. We went swimming this weekend.  We went to a legends game. We got to eat good from all around the world and meet people outside of our country. Having fun is never stopped by anything here. The family that we are makes sure everyone is having fun and smiling. Got to love Gear Up. 

Got to love the classes....

We'll we have officially started our gear up 2015 classes. Today I had art of acting and music. I loved actin class last year. We all had so much fun. It inspired me to take drama class at my school. I love acting. There is just something about being able to scream, yell, be sarcastic, and act stupid and not get in trouble for it. I had music today and I still am bad at playing the drums. I can't keep up with the rhythm. This is why I am in choir and not band. Haha. But I do love my classes. And my favorite part of the day is when I get done eating dinner I can eat ice cream and relax. I don't really know why but I love eating ice cream at the end of the day.

Assignment 1 late.....

I couldn't get my blogger account set up. While everyone was running around have problems with blogger, canvas, and link blue not everyone could get to it. Seeing the ambassadors helping the new kids was a great thing. Even though they were having account problems too seeing them help the first year kids before themselfs was inspiring.
